Your Application Will Be Reviewed After We Receive the Following Documents:

  • Application for admission - TLU Application, Common Application, or ApplyTexas
  • Personal Essay. You can use the essay prompts on the TLU Application, Common Application, or Apply Texas or submit your own essay or graded writing sample to
  • Official transcript sent directly from your high school with current class ranking and cumulative GPA
  • Official SAT/ACT test scores. If you didn't select TLU to automatically receive your scores when you took the test, you can download your scores from the College Board website and send them to us as a PDF. Transfer applicants are not required to submit scores if they have more than 15 transferable hours

With school closures, we understand there may be a delay in submitting the supporting documentation, specifically high school transcripts, to our office. Rest assured, our admissions team is prepared to support you through the enrollment process. There is still time to complete and have your application file reviewed by our admissions committee. Application Deadlines

Early Action: Early Action is for students who wish to receive early notification of their admissions status. Early Action applications must be submitted by November 15. Students will be notified of an admission decision approximately two weeks after we receive a completed application. 

Early Action Application Deadline: November 15
Enrollment Deposit Due: May 1 (Deposits can be made on the student status page.)

Regular DecisionRegular Decision applications should be submitted to TLU by February 1. Students will be notified of an admission decision approximately two weeks after we receive a completed application. 

Regular Decision Application Deadline: February 1
Enrollment Deposit Due: May 1 (Deposits can be made on the student status page.)

Late Decision: Applications submitted after February 1 will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Students will be notified within two weeks of the date their application becomes complete. Students admitted as Late Decision will have until May 1, or two weeks from their date of acceptance to accept their offer of admission and submit the required enrollment deposit.

Holistic Admissions Process and Our Student Code of Conduct

In addition to your academic record, test scores, and essay, we look for students who demonstrate they want to be involved in a campus community and embody the values of a TLU student.

Once you submit your application to TLU, you are agreeing to abide by our Student Code of Conduct as outlined in the TLU Student Handbook. A student who enrolls at TLU voluntarily becomes a part of a community where respect for others is the norm, and rational, mature behavior is expected. The voluntary entrance into the community implies acceptance by the student of university regulations, and the failure to comply with these standards subjects the student to disciplinary action.

If offensive or hateful social media content is brought to our attention at any point in the admissions process, we will address it with the prospective student or admitted student. A student’s application could be negatively impacted by the discovery of offensive or hateful speech on social media. We also maintain the right to rescind an admissions decision due to social media posts that violate our Student Code of Conduct.

Notification of Admission

Once we receive your completed application and all of the required documents you can expect an admissions decision with two weeks.

If you do not receive a notification within two weeks, your application may be under review by our Admissions Committee, you are missing documents (test scores, transcript or essay), or the application was never received. If your application is under review by the Admissions Committee, your Admissions Representative will contact you so you can provide additional materials (recommendation letter, new test scores, current grades, etc.).

Students should login and check their Student Status Page for an admissions decision. Students who are admitted will also receive a TLU acceptance packet in the mail. 

Required Documents for Spring Applicants

*An applicant submitting a GED in place of the high school diploma will need to submit an official score report of the GED.
