Dr. Fuchs works on a variety of astrophysical problems. He is particularly interested in two types of stars called white dwarfs and cataclysmic variables. By using telescopes located across the globe, he works with students to measure fundamental properties of these stars to help answer questions about their evolution, composition, and future. He is always happy to start new projects with students based on their interests.

Dr. Fuchs loves teaching many different types of courses in the Department of Physics. He teaches courses including Astronomy, Introductory Physics, Modern Physics, and Classical Mechanics for physics majors, non-physics majors, and non-science majors. Interactive engagement is an important part of all of his courses. He enjoys showing the connections between physics and the rest of life through demos and movie scenes. He is a big believer that physics and astronomy are fun and that classes should reflect that.
