Chrysler Group’s Fred Diaz to Deliver Commencement Address

Fred M. Diaz, President and CEO of Ram Truck Brand and Head of National Sales, Chrysler Group LLC, will deliver the address at Texas Lutheran University’s (TLU) Commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 7 p.m. on the Chapel Lawn on the TLU campus. Baccalaureate services will be held May 14 at 10:30 a.m. in Jackson Auditorium. Both services are open to all graduates, family and guests.
“We are excited to have Fred come back to TLU to share the insight and wisdom he has gained from his life and work while celebrating the success of our graduating seniors,” said Dr. Robert Vogel, Interim President. “Fred exemplifies what a TLU education is about – identifying and building on one’s strengths to pursue a life of purpose and service in the world.”
Diaz was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer - Ram Truck Brand, Chrysler Group, in October 2009. Diaz is also the head Chrysler Group executive for sales in the United States with complete responsibility for sales strategy, dealer relations and operations, order facilitation, incentives, and field operations. Previously, Diaz was Regional Director – Denver Business Center for Chrysler Group. Prior to that, Diaz worked in positions of increasing responsibility in the company’s sales and marketing, customer relations and service and parts organizations.
In 2006, Diaz was named the Latino Executive of the Year by On Wheels Magazine, Inc. Diaz was also the recipient of the 2010 HENAAC/Great Minds in S.T.E.M. Chairman's Award, in recognition of his commitment to science, technology, engineering and mathematics education among youth in the Hispanic community. In 2011, Diaz was named one of the top 25 most influential, engaged, and dynamic Hispanic business leaders in America by the editors of HispanicBusiness magazine.
Diaz is a member of Chrysler's Ethics Board and Global Diversity Council and also serves as a Board Trustee of the Chrysler Foundation, the company’s philanthropic arm established to enrich the physical, educational and cultural needs of local communities.
Diaz holds a master's degree in business management from Central Michigan University and a bachelor's degree in management with an emphasis in psychology from Texas Lutheran University. Diaz is a native of San Antonio.
