Rabbi Stahl Returns to TLU for Annual Lecture

Senior Rabbi Emeritus Dr. Samuel M. Stahl of Temple Beth-El in San Antonio will present his annual February lectures at Texas Lutheran University on Wednesday, Feb. 9. His major public lecture, “Another View of the Pharisees,” will be given 12:50-1:30 p.m. in the Katie Conference Center of Hein Dining Hall on the TLU campus.

During morning chapel service, Stahl will address “Our Sole Legitimate Prejudice.” Chapel service is open to the public and will take place in the Chapel of the Abiding Presence on the TLU campus from 10 a.m. to 10:20 a.m. on Feb. 9. The TLU “History of Religions” class will also hear Stahl speak about the “Jewish Perceptions of God” during the 9 a.m. class time in Tschoepe Hall room 130. All lectures are open to the public.

Stahl Stahl is the author of “Making the Timeless Timely: Thoughts and Reflections of a Contemporary Reform Rabbi” and, most recently, “Boundaries, Not Barriers: Some Uniquely Jewish Perspectives on Life.”

Stahl was awarded the TLU Board of Regents Distinguished Community Service Award for his extensive community service in the San Antonio and South Central Texas area and for his annual Jewish Chautauqua Society Lectures and Samuel M. Stahl Lectures he has presented at Texas Lutheran University for each of the last 34 years.

The lectures are sponsored by Texas Lutheran University, the Guadalupe County Community Symposium, and the Department of Theology, Philosophy, and Classical Languages at Texas Lutheran University.
